My poor neglected LJ. :( Been lost in novel land for about a week and a half now, though I have had to pause to do revisions on a couple of shorts along the way. I've also had to rewrite certain sections of said novel to accommodate new ideas, which has put a dent in the overall word count. Still making progress, though, and I suppose that's what matters.

I'm getting sick, throat's swelling a bit. I'm really hoping it's not the rock 'em, sock 'em bug that has been going around lately because I'd really rather not be out of commission for more than a few days, and by the sounds of it, this bad one is taking its toll over the course of weeks.

And to go with my ailing body...

...nightmares! I've had some deeply disturbing ones over the last few days. I'm still holding my wife partially accountable for every terror that happens across my sleeping mind, as she still hasn't fulfilled her promise to make me a new dreamcatcher to replace the one we had hanging in our room back at the old apartment. I'd like a blue and beige one, please. :-)

Wow, you've had a rough winter, sick-wise. Sad!

Tough about the nightmares. I'm not prone to them, but that's the way I like it.

Cool about all the writing work *g* keep it up.

What's rough is that the worst of it always seems to hit me on the weekends, so that by Monday morning I no longer have any excuse to play hooky from work. :-) I don't mind a certain kind of nightmare (i.e., merely spooky); it's the gross and graphic ones I hate. I'm kind of the same way with horror movies, come to think of it.

Me, too. Thursday, feeling a little low, Friday a bit worse, but not bad, Saturday, death's door, Sunday somewhat recovered, Monday, back to work.

It's so rotton! As if the virus says, "Oooo, now's my chance!" and *bam*, hits you.

I avoid horror movies. My fam moves over a seat if there's too much going on, as I, well, you know. Hide behind them and accidentally shake popcorn on them and huddle under my sweater. It's best to avoid horror movies *g*

I liked Ghost Rider, though. I like cool stuff like that. Not scary stuff.

I wonder how common nightmares are for writers? My wife says I have an overactive imagination, which is why I have dreams and nightmares on a regular basis. She says she never remembers her dreams.

Do dreamcatchers truly work for you? I'd put up a hundred of them in that case. Then again I may run out of story ideas if I stopped having strange dreams.

I would guess that they're very common, but it would definitely be interesting to see some sort of case study conducted on the matter. Incidentally, my wife doesn't remember too many dreams either. Do dreamcatchers work? Not that I'm aware of, though I think they could if a guy really believed in them. Nightmares have plagued me since early childhood, so they're really nothing new to me. What makes me curious is why they seem to come in waves.
